What are tweezers?

Tweezers are small gripping hand tools designed for small, fine and detailed working. They are commonly used to grasp small objects that would otherwise be too fiddly or small to be held with fingers. They come in various types for varying applicational uses and feature two sets of arms. They are typically made from durable materials for long lasting performance and precise grip, with handles often made from stainless steel for strength, plastic for a lighter feel and rubber for added comfort and improved grip.

Why tweezers?

Tweezers provide precise control when working with small components, such as those in electronic circuitry and are often equipped with safety features like ESD-safe coatings to prevent static discharge, VDE insulation to guard against electrical hazards, and non-sparking materials for safe use in flammable environments.

Considerations when choosing tweezers

• ESD safety - Working with electronics can be a hazard, in these cases using a metal tool would increase the risk of conductivity and could result in a shock. Using tweezers that are non magnetic and made from ESD safe materials like plastic, epoxy coated and carbon fibre, reduced the risk involved.
• Type - Consideration of the type of tweezers is important as each type is designed for specific tasks, with options ranging from fine tipped tweezers for detailed work to flat broader tips for handling larger components to ensure optimal precision and performance across a variety of applications.
• Size It is important to select the most suitable overall length as this directly affects comfort, control and accessibility.
